Tax disc 2016...

I had to tax my car today. Online of course. No visit to the post office required. It almost broke my heart.

Over two hundred and fifty quid to drive on potholed roads with so many roadworks that you spend a fortune in extra petrol on detouring, so much traffic at such a standstill that you lose days of your life simply sitting behind the wheel going nowhere, and the bloody police with nothing better to do that pick you up for going thirty-five in a thirty mph speed limit when there are no houses in sight, no other cars within two miles and it's four o'clock in the frigging morning anyway.

Two hundred and sixty-five quid and they don't even send me a sodding tax disc to display on my windscreen.

Well, bugger them, I've made my own!

In my car as I speak. Wonder if it is breaking the law? It isn't a forgery as I have paid my money. It is more of a declaration that I have coughed up the dosh.

better move it Louisa. It might be an offence to show an out of date tax disc still. Bloody bureaucracy!

Me neither. I wonder what the traffic wardens will do when they see my 2016 tax disc? It isn't out of date, but it shouldn't exist!

I'll change the colour for 2017 - and the price again probably!

You should put a mini piece of art in there instead... 😀

Ah but this is. It's an installation piece and a comment on social integrity along with a consumerist view of the world a la Andy Warhol... Or so some of my upyerarse arty friends would say.

I think I will snap up as many tax disc holders as I can and start producing some. It is an interesting idea.

Shame that they have got rid of them Kathryn. I will miss the excitement of putting them in the holder. Apparently tax disc holders were a multi million pound business and lots of people have been made redundant as a result. Progress - who needs it really?

I thank you for this post for two reasons:
    1. Your art work is genius and the reasons behind it even more so
    2. You saved me a potential BIG fine as I'd completely forgotten that my car tax was also due today!!...

    Cheers!

I hate paying car tax Emma, particularly as I drive so little these days.

Actually, I could use this, the year I was born.
I'll have to re-apply for my driving licence next year anyway.
