Trick or treat 2015...

The final tally for last nights trick or treaters was a new record of 134 ghouls, vampires, pumpkins, witches, Freddies, pirates and just about everything else in between. 134 children all running amok in our road dressed as... Well dressed as the little monsters that they really are.

Our first treater was a three year old friendly ghost on her own who gave me a hug and our final a pair of young teenage boys dressed to the nines as a ghoul and the grim reaper who obviously felt a bit awkward and too old to be knocking on people's doors asking for sweets.

I've had the new record verified by Gaynor who made up the goodie bags. At one point they came so thick and fast that she was making them up in real time as the little monsters stood on the doorstep. By the time the last few ambled along at around eight-thirty my legs were killing me and we were almost out of sweets, choc, crisps, polos, even kit-kats and thinking that our next move was olives and nan breads before opening up the tinned fruit.

I don't know how I've got into the Halloween thing. I shouldn't like it what with it being an American import, but I do. I really do. I think it might be the pumpkin carving (this year ten), theres something so satisfying about that golden orange light spilling out into the darkness and illuminating a creature from inside my imagination.

So thanks America and here's to next year.

Make it happen! It's only been a thing here for the last 10 years. Start a campaign. x

Amazing amount. We had the grand total of zero again this year, before I moved we had loads - never on your scale though!

Must be costing you a fortune in sweets. I blame you for the child obesity crisis in this country!

I use out of date sweets with meat in Nick. Cheap and low in sugar.
